Girls’ Basketball Brief recap
1. Lady Hornets squeaked past Deerfield Beach High School in overtime over the Thanksgiving Break on Monday in Jackson. The fourth quarter was the best for Hampton Varsity Hornets as they outscored DBHS 18-10. Ayana Roberts scored 12 points in the quarter. Roberts scored 27 points to lead Hampton Varsity Hornets and was named Player of the Game. Also contributing for Hampton Varsity Hornets were Paris Price (7 points), Jazz Meggs (6 points), Alexis Bailey (4 points), Rachell McNeil-Spencer (3 points), and Surayyah Aleem (2 points).
2. Lady Hornets Battle Hard In Loss To Bobcats over the Thanksgiving Break on Tuesday. Lady Hornets fell to Bobcats, 53-48, in a back-and-forth game on Tuesday. There were seven lead changes in the game. Ayana Roberts, Paris Price, and Surayyah Aleem each scored 14 points to lead Lady Hornets. Also contributing for Hampton Varsity Hornets were Jazz Meggs (4 points) and Rachell McNeil-Spencer (2 points).
3. Last night Hampton Girls Team played at ELCA and Surayyah Aleem scored 27 points to lead Lady Hornets past Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Varsity Chargers, 56-41, on Tuesday. Lady Hornets never trailed in the game. Lady Hornets had a strong first half, leading 27-18 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory. Leading 38-29, Lady Hornets went on an 18-point run to pull further away. Aleem hit three threes scoring 27 points to lead the Lady Hornets. Paris Price (10 points), Ayana Roberts (9 points), Kyra Myers (5 points), Rachell McNeil-Spencer (2 points), Jazz Meggs (2 points), and Zealous Derring (1 point) also pitched in for Lady Hornets.
